CV tips: tailor your CV to the market you're targeting

A good CV in Switzerland is not a good CV in France. Photo, age, nationality, work permit, expected length: each market has its conventions, and a harmless detail here can work against an application elsewhere.

Choose above the market you're targeting - not your country of residence. If you live in France but are applying in Switzerland, it's the Swiss tips that matter.

Why tailor your CV to the target country?

Because a recruiter reads your CV through the codes of their market. A missing photo surprises in Switzerland but reassures in France; a second page is tolerated in Switzerland but penalised in France. Aligning with these expectations means you avoid unintentionally signalling "doesn't know the market".

How to use these tips?

Select your market, read the pointers, then open the editor: by choosing the same target country in the "CV profile" panel, the editor shows you directly, field by field, what is recommended or discouraged - without ever hiding or deleting anything.
